Second Ponds Creek - Stage 1, The Ponds by Arup Pty Ltd, Craig & Rhodes Pty Ltd, Western Earthmoving Pty Ltd. A joint venture between Australand Holdings Pty Ltd & Landcom

The successful development of The Ponds Stage 1 into the best selling subdivision in NSW is a testament to the design, management & construction teams involved with the project. Arup, Craig & Rhodes and WEM have worked collaboratively and continuously on the project from tendering & inception, through to infrastructure delivery and lot sales & settlement.

In this time the project delivery team has been able to adjust to the changes in the first home buyer market and fast track lot delivery and achieve the lots sales objectives of Australand & Landcom. Without the excellent and efficient coordination of the skills provided by the project managers, designers, surveyors and contractors, the project would not have been in a position to take advantage and react to the rapid increase in demand for residential land. Key to this efficiency was the innovative file sharing and 3D modelling tools utilised by the team.

The Ponds sets a new bench mark for future residential project delivery where the consultant and contractor teams work hand in hand to deliver excellence in residential development via proactive leadership and innovative solutions.

Judges Comments

Arup, Craig & Rhodes and Western Earthmoving were part of the successful tender team assembled by Australand for the Ponds Stage 1 Joint Venture with Landcom. The combination of consultants and contractor working in a collaborative manner has achieved a high rate of lot delivery with minimal design and construction issues. Transfer of large amounts of digital data through the ‘Arup Share’ information transfer system, and shared integrated computer modelling has enabled accuracy and speed in the design and construction process. The effectiveness of the team has allowed rapid finalization of subdivisions, and release of plans through Blacktown Council, and contributed to the Pond’s success in achieving an outstanding rate of sales.
