Pavilions on the Park by Australand Holdings Ltd

Pavilions on the Park is a boutique residential development offering a selection of one, two and three bedroom apartments. The development consists of two Stages made up of four buildings with a total of 195 Apartments. Stage 1 is now complete, comprising of 79 Apartments featuring a modern and contemporary design, each apartment features expansive living spaces and premium finishes with a wide range of innovative floor plans for individuality and choice.

Pavilions on the Park is well connected and perfectly positioned close to shopping centres, schools, cafes and restaurants and public transport. Sydney’s CBD is within 6.5kms and the northern beaches are approximately 12.5kms from your door step. The site is wonderfully located alongside the green expanse of Newlands Park, nested in St Leonards’ sought after leafy quarter.

Designed by the acclaimed architects, Allen Jack+Cottier, the design reinforces the existing special form of the area. The buildings are vastly set back with great modulation and articulation of the built form to reduce building bulk. This opportunity lead to create individual building characteristics with more opportunities for significant tree planting within the front setback area.

The low rise elements in front of the higher rise portions of the buildings are fragmented to relate better in scale to existing building forms. These also follow the curve in plan of Duntroon Avenue, subtlety reinforcing its curve and defining the space of the street.

Judges Comments

Located close to the major transport hub of St Leonards, this development successfully addresses the constraints of a narrow parcel of land adjoining the main north shore rail line, by creating a medium rise apartment complex facing Newlands Park. Pavilions on the Park houses 195 apartments in a mix of one, two and three bedrooms, with internal and external living spaces orientated towards the park. The design achieves a degree of choice in apartment layouts.

The massing of the buildings are highly articulated and well set back from the street creating a scale, which sits comfortably with the surrounding residential areas. The landscape setback becomes an extension to the park and further integrates the building within its park setting.
